Zero-Waste

Sustainable Catering

At Pinch, sustainability is just as important as taste and presentation. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact at every stage of your event - from sourcing to execution - by focusing on eco-friendly ingredients, maintaining carbon neutrality, and always pushing toward  a zero-waste future.

By teaming up with partners such as Zero Foodprint to fund regenerative farming practices, the Earth Institute at Columbia University to quantify our carbon emissions, and Terrapass to offset  our carbon footprint, we're funding a future where sustainable catering is the norm.

The best part? We’re doing all of this without compromising flavor or presentation. Same great parties, healthier planet!

Composting

Through our composting program with Royal Waste, both in-house and at events, Pinch is committed to reducing the organic waste sent to landfills. Trash is the third-largest source of human-related methane emissions in the U.S. By separating food scraps and biodegradable materials, we divert them from landfills to facilities where they can properly decompose, and turn into soil used to grow the food we use at your events!

Recycling

Recycling conserves natural resources, creates jobs, and reduces pollution, so we consistently separate recyclable glass, plastic, and aluminum from general waste at events and in-house.

For oil and grease, we work with Alpha Waste Solutions, recycling used cooking oil to create cleaner-burning fuel that helps combat environmental issues like acid rain and smog.

Purchasing Local

We prioritize purchasing locally and in-season, from family-owned and accredited suppliers.

Fish: We source our seafood from Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Fish & Lobster Co., a trusted partner committed to sustainability. Our selections are certified by the Marine Stewardship Council or verified as sustainable by the Monterey Bay Aquarium's guidelines, ensuring we serve only the best, responsibly sourced seafood.

Meat: Our meats come from Ottomanelli & Sons, a local butcher shop in Queens. We prioritize grass-fed, free-range, and antibiotic-free options, while expanding our vegan offerings with brands like Impossible and Beyond.

Wine: Our house wines are biodynamic, sustainably grown, organic, or woman/minority owned.

Food Donation

At the end of each event, we donate all eligible leftover food to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, our local partner in fighting hunger. With up to 40% of food in the U.S. going to waste while one in eight Americans faces food insecurity, we’re committed to making a difference by reducing waste and helping feed those in need.

Biodegradable Serveware

When an event requires disposable wares, we use 100% biodegradable, BPI-certified compostable products to reduce landfill waste. We partner with Verterra, a supplier of stylish, sustainable dinnerware made from fallen palm leaves and scrap balsa wood.

Zero Foodprint - From Table-To-Farm

Through our partnership with Zero Foodprint (ZFP), we support small-scale, sustainable agriculture by donating 1% of event sales. This funding helps facilities committed to carbon farming to restore soil health and remove carbon from the atmosphere, ensuring nutritious food for future generations.

Supporting ZFP is essential for maintaining the production of organic, sustainably farmed produce, and we’re proud to contribute to this mission. For every $1 donated, government grants triple the impact, essentially turning $1 into $3. As the only catering company in New York CIty involved in the ZFP change (so far!), we're dedicated to making a meaningful difference, and encourage our competitors to follow suit

  • We supported Zero Foodprint to remove 104k tons of CO2e from our planet - the equivalent of taking 22,500 cars off the road for an entire year.

Carbon Neutrality

We measure our carbon footprint by partnering with the Earth Institute at Columbia University to track the impact of our events and operations. This allows us to offset emissions and offer 100% carbon-neutral events.

We offset our footprint through Terrapass, which funds projects that turn landfill gas into electricity, convert farm waste into energy, and expand wind power. These efforts neutralize our climate impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.

  • We offset 171 metric tons of carbon in 2024 with Terrapass - that’s like balancing out the emissions from 140 round-trip flights from NY to LA!
