New York Design Week Recap

New York Design Week has officially wrapped, let’s talk recap.

Over the course of seven very busy (and fun) days, Pinch took over opening parties, transformed furniture into serving systems, talked food design, launched a home collection, and squeezed in more culinary experiments than we can count.

Here’s a look back at everything we got up to:

We kicked off the week catering the official NYCxDESIGN Opening Party, welcoming the design community with hundreds of monochromatic vegetable tarts, our chrome bar serving martinis, endless sashimi at the glow table, and a lineup of more Pinch food moments in action.

Our collaboration with the Swiss design house, USM Modular Furniture officially opened with Food Form Function, a 30-day exhibition exploring the intersection of food, design, and interaction.

Throughout the showroom, modular systems transformed into working hospitality tools:

• Drawers concealed and revealed food moments
• Suspended pieces invited guests to interact
• Cocktails poured, rotated, infused, and evolved in real time
• Furniture stopped acting like furniture and started serving

The exhibition remains open through June 19, so there’s still time to experience it.

Pinch’s Creative Director, Marjorie Artieres, joined fellow designers for IDSA NYC Women in Design’s Taste Makers panel at MOFAD.

The conversation explored practicing food design in New York, building experiences through materials and interaction, and where food design is heading next.

We look forward to seeing continuous growth in this community.

To close the week, we hosted Soft Serve in collaboration with artist Tina Frey Design at our Chelsea studio.

The evening marked the soft launch of Pinch’s first-ever home serving collection: five sculptural pieces designed for gatherings of every scale.

Our team will have the official launch during 3 days of design in Copenhagen. The pieces will be available to purchase late June on the Pinch website. Stay tuned!
