Pinch Picks: a food + design guide

Apr 2025

Think of this as our mini NYC guide — a little inspo to fuel your next local adventure with food + design in mind. Lucky for us, New York is bursting with options, so we did the heavy lifting and curated a few of our favorite spots just for our fellow Pinchers. Let’s dive in!

Food first

Because food comes first around here (it’s in the name after all), here are our current obsessions, broken into themes to suit your mood…

Out with friends

Superiority Burger - The perfect burger does exist, and it’s here. Their recent expansion means even more room to enjoy this crave-worthy menu. Don’t forget to end with the ice cream + pearl pie - we’re begging you!

Barrio Chino - Mexican food is always a good idea. Our must-try? The tlacoyos appetizer. It’s the next best thing to dining in Mexico.

Miss Ada - Sharing is caring, especially when the table is filled with hummus, labneh, and small plates for everyone to enjoy.

Date night

Shukette - Chef Bob swears by their homemade labneh, and we trust Bob. And their Tahini soft serve?! Are you kidding?! Perfect for an intimate dinner for two.

Rule of Thirds - Break the ‘rule of thirds’ and get a table for two. Our favorites here include the tuna and nori, karaage, and white sesame soft serve (sensing a theme?).

Pecoraro Latteria - For our more romantic Pinchers, this spot is for you! Cozy Italian vibes, moody ambiance, and unbeatable prices. Don’t sleep on the parmesan polenta fries!

Solo dining

Otis - Sit at the chef’s counter for an unparalleled solo experience. Don’t miss the mussels and pair with their perfectly balanced martini.

Café Mogador - A classic go-to for a solo brunch or dinner. Their Moroccan-inspired dishes are as comforting as they are flavorful.

Fjord Seafood Market - If you love a good market, this Park Slope gem offers fresh oysters and prepared sushi that hit the spot every time.

Don’t forget design

We’re called Pinch Food DESIGN for a reason! Here are some creative, design-inspired activities to pair with your culinary adventures.

  • Happy Medium - Relive the joy of high school art class with a modern twist. Choose from air-dry clay, watercolors, pottery painting, and more from their ‘menu’ of crafts.

  • Drop-in Drawing at the MoMA - Unleash your inner artist at this free-with-admission activity. No experience required - just grab a seat, your materials, and draw away. Perfect solo or with friends!

  • RecCreate Collective - Take your crafting to the next level at Cake Club, where you’ll get to decorate and eat your masterpiece.

  • Apotheke - A candle-making workshop in Brooklyn that engages all your senses. Imagine lighting up your custom-made candle after a perfect day out.

  • Date Night at The Met - A Night at the Museum with a Twist! Live music, drinks, special events, and 5,000 years of art every Friday and Saturday night. The perfect evening for art lovers (or anyone!).
