The Garçon Tray

Jun 2026

Inspired by the soft drape of a linen napkin resting on a classic bistro tray, the Garçon Tray explores the possibilities of resin sculpting to create the illusion of fabric suspended in motion.

Designed for passing cocktails and clearing glasses through a crowd, the tray brings a sense of lightness to the act of service. Whether weaving through a dimly lit event or circulating around a lively living room gathering, it carries a subtle nod to the timeless choreography of French café culture.

The idea originated with Pinch founder and Executive Chef Bob Spiegel, who envisioned a serving tray that felt less like an object and more like a floating napkin moving effortlessly through a room. At first, the concept seemed nearly impossible to execute, which, of course, made it all the more compelling.

In collaboration with artist and designer Tina Frey, the vision began to take shape. Through a process of sketching, sculpting, prototyping, and refinement, Frey translated the softness and movement of fabric into a durable resin form, preserving every fold and gesture in a material known for its strength.

After weeks of ideation, testing, and hand-sculpting, the Garçon Tray became one of the defining pieces in the Tina Frey x Pinch collection. Today, it appears at many Pinch events, carrying everything from cocktails to canapés, while bringing a sense of movement, hospitality, and playfulness to every gathering.
