Background

The Brooklyn Children's Museum (BCM) is the world’s first children’s museum and New York City’s largest cultural institution designed specifically for children and families.

Their annual Gala supports their mission to inspire curiosity in the next generation. This year they celebrated 125 years of serving as a community and cultural anchor. This is Pinch’s 4th year catering the Gala for BCM, and each year we make sure to make it better than the last.

Event overview

Location: The Brooklyn Children's Museum

Attendance: 400 guests

The task

  • Create a fun and playful atmosphere that reflects what the museum does

  • Curate a menu that would be different and exciting from the past 4 galas

Our approach

We teamed up with BCM to craft an immersive flavor-meets-museum journey that WOWed guests throughout the evening.

Here’s how we did it:

  • Lots of interactive food stations: We set up our most playful food stations yet. From The Night Bazaar serving dumplings for days, to The Slide Interactions with sliders sliding, just to name a few.

  • Experiential Bars: We set up two different bar moments throughout the space, on one side the Cocktail Fountain flowed with a Spring Negroni cocktail,  and the Self-Stirred Bar went round and round with a Blueberry Rosemary Shrub cocktail

  • Rotating food pop-up moments: They included; The Hinge serving the world's longest crispy rice cake, The Mobile with crispy potato sandwiches, and The Toast Rack with warm porcini paninis, and more.

  • Passed bites on our in-house made sustainable trays: They included our famous burrata in tomato water, avocado toast, corn elote, sesame beef, pot stickers, and much more.

Interactive Bar Moments

Two distinct bar setups kept the drinks - and the party - flowing:

  • Cocktail Fountain: A continuous pour of Spring Negroni with floral gin infusion, dry vermouth, luxardo bitter bianco.

  • Self-Stirred Bar: A whimsical + functional Blueberry Rosemary Shrub with gin and lemon cocktail spinning into your glass.

Rotating Food Pop-Ups

We kept the surprises coming with a series of live pop-up moments, each one more interactive than the next:

  • The Hinge: World's longest crispy rice cake

  • The Mobile: Crispy potato sandwiches in three inventive flavor combos

  • The Toast Rack: with warm porcini paninis

Sweet Moments:

  • Tutu Pop-up: Filled with chocolate eclairs

  • The Spike: Crumble sweet cones

The outcome

The Brooklyn Children's Museum Spring Gala was a vibrant celebration of food and culture. Through elevated flavors, immersive formats, and unexpected moments, we transported guests into a world where creativity could be tasted, seen, and experienced.
