The Project

Nike and Melitta Baumeister recently collaborated on a new shoe - one that blurs the lines between fashion, design, and running. The launch was staged through a performative, immersive pop-up experience in the heart of Chelsea, a few blocks from the Pinch kitchen and design studio.

So when the team reached out to Pinch Food Design with a one-of-a-kind request, we couldn’t say no.

Our Creative Director, Marjorie Artieres, was asked to create a series of sculptural objects for the installation - made entirely out of butter.

Our Process by The Studio

Over six days and about 50 pounds of butter, Marjorie transformed ordinary forms into surreal, golden sculptures - a creamy homage to the collaboration:

  • A Nike x MB shoe, cast directly from the real sneaker

  • A butter bust of Melitta herself, molded from the designer’s own face

  • A butter foot, cast from Marjorie’s own (because why stop at shoes?)

  • And finally, the Nike x MB logo, perfectly rendered in buttered perfection

Once the molds were set, she hand-detailed every texture, stitch, and contour, making each piece look strikingly lifelike.

The Finished Piece

The butter sculptures debuted at the Nike x Melitta Baumeister performance pop-up in Chelsea, as an immersive showcase blending art, fashion, and movement. During the live performance, one of the artists carved into the butter bust of Melitta, reshaping strands of her hair in real time, while the remaining sculptures were displayed inside a glass industrial refrigerator - glistening, chilling, and commanding attention.

A perfect intersection of food, design, and form - ephemeral, unexpected, and completely Pinch.
